UP, UP and AWAY

The view from parasailing

The view from parasailing

(Maya) Sunshine, blue skies, and unbelievable crystal clear water, The Maldives. This is supposed to be relaxing and slow week but we can’t sit still. On today’s agenda we have parasailing. We rode our bikes to a dock where we got on a boat called “Chute Me”. Just walking to the boat we saw dozens of different species of fish swimming around. Once we got on the boat we decided that Zara and I would go together. We got harnesses on and got hooked up to the parachute. The boat was going 11 knots and at this speed it would be able to lift us straight into the air. The harnesses were like a seat – they weren’t very comfortable but I didn’t care. Now we are ready for takeoff. 3-2-1. Just like that we were 50 feet away from the boat. The whole time we were singing and screaming.

The warm wind in our faces felt so nice, and you could see 100 miles away. Soon enough we were 400 feet off the ground. Zara and I had the GoPro so we took lots of videos and selfies. We saw flying fish and two large pods of dolphins. Halle and Jolie said that they saw a turtle too. When the driver turned in circles it felt like we weren’t moving at all. We were up there for almost 25 minutes, but it felt like two seconds. The rope started pulling us in and the people on the boat didn’t look like little tiny ants anymore. We got closer and closer and smoothly landed on a big flat surface located in the back of the boat. Quickly we got out of our harnesses and watched Jolie and Halle parasail. It was AMAZING!

(Mom made us post this dorky video.)

Hi Navyn and family I finally got caught up on your great adventure.. .The snow, family commitments, two operations ( not mine but our grand dogs, yes .. Dogs) have kept me away from the ipad for a while. I still cannot believe the wonderful education you are all getting and sharing it with us. Parasailing in the Maldives, staying in an eight room hotel /castle in India, Paul’s crazy driving, these memories will stay with you forever. We loved seeing the videos, and marvel at your patience and ability to take 200 pictures a day. I think you will have to buy another home with more walls, so you can hang those pictures all over your house. I loved the picture of you guys with the Taj Mahal in the background. And the picture of you and Paul riding an elephant is priceless. The girls look so happy in every picture. Hope you continue to have fun and be safe. Tony Ford

    Hi Maya,
I am writing to you from London. Amazingly, the sun has been shining brightly here for the last two days!!!
You said parasailing was amazing. I found your write up amazing, too. I did not even know what parasailing was till I saw the amazing video. You and your sisters all seem to have gotten amazingly taller, and of course, amazingly prettier. Call me biased, but that’s the prerogative I have, not so amazingly!!!
